The Washington County District Attorney’s Office is committed to ensuring that our community remains a safe place to live and work for all people regardless of race, color, sex, national origin, religion, or any other protected status. We serve the people of Washington County in a variety of ways including prosecuting felony and misdemeanor crimes that occur within the county, protecting children from sexual and physical abuse, working in the juvenile courts to address violations of law by youths and unsafe parents, and enforcing child support judgments for parents. We do not have a role in creating or enforcing federal immigration laws.
In 2016, the Washington County District Attorney’s Office handled 10,762 cases involving victims and witnesses from our community. Additionally, every year we engage in tens of thousands of separate contacts with victims and witnesses to help them access and navigate the criminal justice system.
Ensuring that all victims and witnesses have full and unrestricted access to justice is essential to keeping our community safe. We remain committed to working with the community and our law enforcement partners to promote our mission of upholding the law, preserving the safety of the public, protecting the rights of crime victims and pursuing justice for all with skill, honor and integrity.
