Deputies Arrest Commercial Burglar

On Monday, November 16, 2020, at 3:44 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported commercial burglary at the Baskin Robbins in Aloha. A citizen reported the glass front door of the business was smashed. Detectives from the Property Crimes Unit were assigned to the investigation. After analyzing surveillance video footage and crime patterns from the area, detectives identified 28-year-old Mauricio Cesar Castro-Moreira as the suspect. On Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 2:11 p.m., a patrol deputy assigned to the city of Cornelius stopped a vehicle that had been reported stolen the previous day in Aloha. The driver was Mr. Castro-Moreira. Deputies located several stolen items in the vehicle.

Tonquin, Grahams Ferry closures begin June 16

Grahams Ferry Road will close between Basalt Creek Parkway and Tonquin Loop from June 16-Sept. 30 for road construction. Tonquin Road will also be closed at the Portland and Western Railroad/WES Commuter Rail crossing, west of Tonquin Loop, from June 16-July 31 for improvements to the crossing.

Scoggins Dam seismic studies require lane closure at Hagg Lake

The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation's seismic testing of Scoggins Dam will impact traffic at Hagg Lake starting June 13. West Shore Drive across the dam will remain open, but only one-way southbound traffic will be allowed.
