HILLSBORO, Ore- On February 25, 2025, a Washington County jury found Raymond Perez, age 39, guilty of multiple charges including two counts of rape in the first degree, sodomy in the first degree, two counts of using a child in display of sexually explicit conduct, two counts of sexual abuse in the second degree, and luring a minor. Senior Deputy District Attorney Andy Pulver prosecuted the defendant before Judge Hafez Daraee.
The defendant began sexually abusing the minor victim in 2021 following his release from prison on unrelated charges. The abuse continued until 2022 when the victim reported the defendant’s actions to a family member. She recorded several FaceTime conversations with the defendant to provide evidence of his criminal activity. The victim’s loved one alerted the Tigard Police Department and detectives launched an investigation.
The victim was interviewed by medical experts at CARES Northwest where she gave additional details of the abuse. She also provided handwritten letters from the defendant in which the defendant used phrasing and terminology consistent with a romantic relationship.
The Washington County District Attorney’s Office commends the bravery of the victim throughout this process. This office also acknowledges the work of the Tigard Police Department and CARES Northwest.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for April 14, 2025.
