Kevin Barton is the District Attorney for Washington County. He was elected to office in 2018 and re-elected in 2022 and 2026. Prior to becoming District Attorney, Mr. Barton served as a career prosecutor where he prosecuted a variety of crimes, including murder, sexual assault, child abuse, domestic violence, fraud, and theft.
Under Mr. Barton’s leadership, the mission of the Washington County DA’s Office is seeking justice and protecting our community. Seeking justice means ensuring every action meets the highest legal and ethical standards. Protecting our community means ensuring public safety is a priority.
Mr. Barton believes in the importance of holding criminals accountable while providing opportunities for rehabilitation and ensuring crime victims and survivors receive justice. Washington County is one of the safest counties in Oregon and it leads the way with innovative specialty courts and treatment programs.
Mr. Barton is a member of many boards and committees including the Family Peace Center of Washington County, the Oregon District Attorney’s Association, the National District Attorney’s Association, the Washington County Public Safety Coordinating Council, Building Bridges of Understanding in our Communities, Saint Mary’s Home for Boys, and the Washington County Major Crimes Team.
Mr. Barton is a frequent speaker at various community groups and events throughout Washington County. He was raised locally and lives in Washington County. He is a graduate of Gonzaga University and the University of Notre Dame Law School.

Mr. Barton was raised locally and lives in Washington County with his wife and three children. He is a graduate of Gonzaga University and the University of Notre Dame Law School.
