HILLSBORO, Ore- The Washington County District Attorney’s Office is pleased to report that its Child Support Division is the top-collecting division of its kind in Oregon. This team assists with the establishment, administration, and collection of child support orders to help children and parents in Washington County.

According to figures provided by the state, the Child Support Division collected more than $26 million in child support obligations for children and parents during the federal fiscal year of October 2023 to September 2024. This marks the highest collection amount statewide.

What’s more, the Child Support Division met federal performance benchmarks to qualify for 100% of available federal matching funds, an estimated $154,000. This additional funding helps conserve local county resources.

Washington County District Attorney Kevin Barton says the work of the DA’s child support division is critical to supporting children and parents in our community.

“I’m proud that once again the Washington County Child Support Enforcement team leads the state in collecting court-ordered support for children,” said District Attorney Barton. “Ensuring children have a stable home environment promotes public safety for our entire community.”

Senior Deputy District Attorney Ana Maria Carter oversees the Child Support Division. SDDA Carter says these figures reflect the hard work of her team.

“The success of the Washington County District Attorney’s Office’s Child Support Division is thanks to our team’s hard work and dedication to the families in the Washington County community. Our mission is to ensure our county’s children have the support they need to grow in a stable environment.”

In addition to collecting child support funds, this division also helps parents establish paternity, secure child support and medical support orders, and modify existing orders. More information about this work can be found here.
