This holiday season members of the Washington County District Attorney's Office joined with employees from other county departments in support of the SCOTTY Foundation's annual Tree of Giving program. The program collects Christmas gifts for foster children in the Washington County area. Participants select a tag with a child's name, age and gift request, and then fulfill the request by delivering the unwrapped item to a Tree of Giving collection point. There are multiple Christmas trees set up as collection points across the county. This year DA's Office employees organized to fulfill the wishes of forty children in foster care, delivering five carts of packages from the Washington County Courthouse to a tree in the Hillsboro Civic Center. Overall, county employees helped four hundred children through the program in 2017. The District Attorney's Office is also proud to support the Severe Winter Weather Response Shelter Program by donating socks, gloves, coats, and tarps to help the homeless through the winter season.
